Minister Dedić with Christopher Sheldon of World Bank on future cooperation

Christopher Sheldon, the World Bank Country Manager for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, Europe and Central Asia, with his associates visited today the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to discuss the ongoing and future WB-funded projects with minister Dedić.

Discussing the proposed Agriculture Resilience and Competitiveness Project (ARCP), minister Dedić pointed out the importance of further work on strengthening the resilience and competitiveness in agriculture – including improvement of agriculture information systems, food safety, productivity and climate change adaptation. The Project will also encompass efforts on strengthening value chains though support to investments and adoption of new technologies, including irrigation development. The projected total value of the project is around 60 million KM.      

Christopher Sheldon said that the World Bank would continue supporting activities of this Ministry geared towards more efficient natural resource management in the sectors of agriculture, water and forestry with the focus on climate change mitigation efforts.  

Other ongoing and pipeline projects were also discussed, in particular the proposed Forest Economy Development Project in the forestry sector, the Water Services Modernization Program, in advanced preparation stage, and the Sava and Drina Integrated Development Program (SDIP), all of which are included in the Public Investment Program of the Federation of BiH.
