Dairy Leaders with Minister Hrnjić on the Establishment of the Dairy Team

The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić, together with his associates, met today in Sarajevo with the representatives of the Association of the Dairy Industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The president of the Association Vedat Pašić presented the activities aimed at improving the dairy sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Minister Hrnjić particularly expressed his interest in improving communication between the primary agricultural milk producers and dairy processors in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially given the rising prices of milk and other dairy products. Minister also endorsed the establishment of the Dairy Team that would include the representatives of the Ministry, the dairy industry and primary milk producers.

“At last week’s meeting, I assured our agricultural producers that we will act proactively and talk to everyone who can offer concrete solutions to improve the dairy sector. As I see, such an approach is supported by the dairy representatives and we will continue this discussion within the Dairy Team, whose aim is to find the best solutions for both producers and processors”, said Minister Hrnjić and added that the support measures also include the milk purchasers, and for this reason it is very important to find models that will be acceptable to both.

Several other open issues were also brought up at the meeting, such as milk surplus, possibilities for processing raw milk into milk powder, the process of monitoring and controlling sown crops applying new technologies and software solutions, the state and number of animals on farms.

They pointed out that the dairy sector is one of the most organized sectors and that they expect its further improvement with the aim of developing agriculture in the future.
