Minister Hrnjić discussed the ARCP Project activities with the World Bank
The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić met today with the World Bank’s agriculture team led by Augusto Garcia, senior agricultural economist and team leader of the Agriculture Resilience and Competitiveness Project (ARCP).
Advisor to Federal Minister Pejo Janjić and the operational analyst at the World Bank office Sarajevo Samra Bajramović joined the discussion. The World Bank mission team is in Bosnia and Herzegovina from March 18 to 22 to follow up on the activities agreed between the representatives of the World Bank and the Federal Ministry, as well as the action plan for the Agricultural Resilience and Competitiveness Project (ARCP) following the effectiveness of the project.
“The importance of this project is reflected in the resilience of the agricultural sector and the increase in competitiveness for the EU market accession. The project will help increase the productivity and diversification of agricultural production, improve knowledge and adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices and increase resistance of agricultural production to climate change. It will improve integration of smallholder farmers into green and efficient value chains with greater gender equality, lead to better water management in agriculture and the introduction of climate-smart irrigation technologies. The standards of food safety and quality will be improved and the competitiveness and potential for access to higher-value markets will be increased,” said Minister Hrnjić.
The World Bank team discussed further steps to ensure the progress in the agreed activities required for the implementation of the first part of the ARCP project.
