Minister Hrnjić at the opening of the 20th International Ecology Fair – EKOBIS: Moving forward with green transition policies
Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić attended the opening ceremony of the 20th International Ecology Fair – EKOBIS in Bihać.
The fair was opened with a ribbon cutting by the Federal Minister of Agriculture Kemal Hrnjić, Director of the USK Chamber of Commerce Sanela Sabljaković, Mayor of the City of Bihać Elvedin Sedić, Minister of Economy in the USK Government Armin Kardašević and Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton Nijaz Hušić.
In his address at the opening of this 20th jubilee edition of the fair, Minister Hrnjić said that the green transition as the motto of this year’s fair is not just a trend but a need for a better and more advanced way of life. Minister Hrnjić pointed out that the line federal ministry remains committed to supporting the green transition.
“We are developing and implementing policies that will help our farmers to switch to sustainable methods of managing their farms and all the resources they own. We commit significant funds within the rural development model and other types of support for the installation and use of solar panels on farm buildings, we co-fund the application of new technologies in agriculture, the introduction and certification of standards in agriculture and the food industry, the use of manure on crop land, land policy measures, including co-financing the organization of fairs, technical meetings, congresses, symposiums and seminars”, said Minister Hrnjić.
“In a world faced with a series of environmental challenges, including climate change, land and water pollution, and damaged biodiversity, the transformation of our economy, agriculture in particular, following the principles of sustainability is crucial for the preservation of our planet for future generations,” added Minister Hrnjić during a tour of the fair.
Minister Hrnjić thanked the representatives of the Una-Sana Canton Chamber of Commerce for organizing the fair, while hoping that it will continue to be a platform for addressing issues and seeking ways to improve environmental protection on a local and global level.
The fair is held in “Luke” Sports Hall in Bihać until 08 September. More than 200 exhibitors are at the EKOBIS 2024 fair, which will also include the 3rd international tourism fair – EKOTOUR and the 4th international crafts fair.
