The Veterinary sector carries out the following tasks:
- Preparation of legislation and regulations and the implementation of policy in the field of veterinary;
- Taking measures aimed at improvement of veterinary activities, harmonization of legislation and other regulations in the field of animal health protection and veterinary public health with the legislation at the country level;
- Protection of animal and public health, ensuring safety of products of animal origin, undertaking risk management activities in the field of food safety, taking other measures of veterinary public health and improvement of animal reproduction, establishing structure and monitoring of the operations of veterinary services, setting up and implementing measures of veterinary environmental protection, control of production, marketing and use of veterinary drugs and veterinary medicinal products and artificial insemination semen;
- Preparing budget proposal and allocation of budget resources earmarked for veterinary sector, ensuring animal welfare by laying down requirements for and controlling housing, feeding, protection and treatment of animals, cooperating with local and international veterinary and other agencies, institutions and organizations, carrying out licensing exams for doctors of veterinary medicine and veterinary technicians;
- Other activities within the competence of the Sector.
