Minister Hrnjić Visits “Agro-Majetić”: A New Modern Farm Rising in Cazin

Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić visited the farm “Agro-Majetić” in Cazin, owned by Mesud Majetić, to see firsthand how the farm operation are going and what plans are in store for expanding production.

Majetić and his son are currently building a modern facility aimed at improving conditions for cattle and increasing both the volume and quality of production.

Minister Hrnjić noted that Majetić is a long-time milk producer in the Una-Sana Canton who is investing his own money to develop and modernize the farm.

“What matters here is that the farm is being taken over by his younger son, who is working to modernize production. It is our duty to motivate producers like this and show them how to access funding, and I believe that by working this way we have helped add another modern farm to the Una-Sana Canton. This could be another success story that might inspire our children to return from the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Hrnjić said during the visit.

Mesud Majetić thanked the minister for the visit and said the facility is currently being roofed. The new building measures 36 by 21.5 m, and the farm produces milk, fattens bulls and raises its own heifers.

“The building is 36 by 21.5 m. We raise livestock, primarily for milk production. We fatten bulls and breed our own heifers. We work 20 hectares of silage, and we have triticale, oats and field beans. As for labor, it is just me, my wife and my son — and another son who has wanted to come back and work here for a long time. Thanks to the Ministry and to agriculture, things are good, great, beautiful — we have never had it better,” said Majetić.

The visit to “Agro-Majetić” once again highlighted how much it matters to invest in domestic agriculture — above all in modernizing family farms and creating conditions that allow young people to stay in, or return to, the countryside.
