Minister Hrnjić in Novi Sad: Better Results through Agriculture Innovations

The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić visited the Biosens Institute in Novi Sad today. The work of this research and development institute for information technologies of biosystems is focused on technologies and innovations that improve the field of agriculture, food technology and environmental protection.

Accompanied by the Institute director Vladimir Crnojević, Minister Hrnjić was shown technical achievements that significantly improve processes in the field of agriculture, such as the development of plant health monitoring sensors, the use of drones and satellite technology in agriculture, as well as the food quality monitoring systems.

– Knowledge transfer and exchange of ideas is of essential importance for progress in any field, including agriculture. The innovative approach and investment in the development of modern technologies in this Institute are proof that investments in modernization and digitization can improve agriculture. Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thus the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cannot afford to fall behind modern trends and innovative solutions created in agriculture. This institute has developed many solutions that help the public administration gain a better insight into agricultural production, achieve more efficient control of financial support and improve the system of supervision of the use of agricultural land – said Minister Hrnjić during his visit to BioSens.

The BioSens Institute was founded in 2015 in Novi Sad. The outcomes of the 50 projects they have implemented so far are available to farmers, advisory services, companies, pupils and students and policy makers.

– We are sure that our experience and research results can be of great use for the development of agriculture and forestry in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The role of our institute is to disseminate information of importance for agricultural producers and all food chain stakeholders, but also for institutions that care about the supervision and improvement of legal regulations based on the research and technologies that our institute carries out, said director Crnojević.

The BioSens Institute opened a new office building in Novi Sad this year, enabling the most sensitive scientific research in the field of micro and nano technology. The 34 million euro investment in its development was co-funded by EU Horizon 2020 project.
