Visit to West Herzegovina

The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić with his associates visited the West Herzegovina Canton today. He met with representatives of the legislative and executive authorities as well as the agricultural associations and farmers.

Minister Hrnjić and associates discussed the current situation in this canton and its local communities with the prime minister of the canton, cantonal ministers and its municipal and town mayors.  

Members of the Farmers’ Union of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina also spoke about the state of agriculture in the West Herzegovina Canton. The assistant ministers of the Federal Minister of Agriculture presented the agriculture and rural development support payments program for 2023 at the meeting.

“Agricultural producers and processors of the West Herzegovina Canton have consistently increased their investments in agricultural production over the past three years, which is evident in the allocations granted to them by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture,” said Minister Hrnjić, adding that such trend would hopefully continue in the future.

Minister Hrnjić also visited the Collection and Distribution Center in Bijača, agricultural producers of young potatoes in the Ljubuški settlements of Vojnići and Šipovača and new vineyard plantations in Ljubuški.

In order to assess the possibilities and capacities for the purchase and processing of domestic agricultural products and their processing, Minister Hrnjić also visited the production capacities of the Lasta factory in Čapljina, operating as part of the company Violeta. The company’s owner Peter Ćorluka confirmed that the company is committed to using the high-quality domestic agricultural products are the raw materials for Lasta’s products, whose access is ensured both on the domestic and foreign markets.
