Ministar Hrnjić’s trip to the Posavina Canton
Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić visited the Posavina Canton where he met with representatives of the cantonal government and agricultural producers in separate meetings.
Cantonal Prime Minister Đuro Topić and Cantonal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Mato Brkić presented the situation in the field of agriculture in Posavina Canton, in particular the issues of 2022/2023 harvest and other challenges faced by agricultural producers and processors.
The meeting was also attended by notable officials, namely Ivo Vincetić (the member of the Committee for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH), Ilija Ilić (president of the Committee for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH), Željko Nedić (Federal Minister of Spatial Planning) and Tončo Bavrka (Director of the Federal Directorate of Commodity Reserves).
They agreed to continue cooperation that will result in improvements in agricultural production.
“The Posavina Canton is the breadbasket of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in grains and oil seed crops. In times like these, especially taking into account the war in Ukraine but also major price increases affecting our agricultural producers, we must improve grain production, primarily wheat but also other crops that thrive in this region. You can count on the support of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on that path,” said Minister Hrnjić.
Last year, the agricultural producers of the Posavina Canton planted 9.5 thousand ha and received 6 million KM in financial support granted by the Federation, accounting for 2/3 of the total financial support paid to the agricultural producers of the Posavina Canton by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.
Open issues were discussed at the meeting with the agricultural producer associations, collection organizers and representatives of veterinary stations. Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry presented the opportunities provided in this year’s Support Payment Program in Agriculture and Rural Development, and expressed their gratitude for the suggestions and proposals they received from agricultural producers during the public consultation process.
