Minister Hrnjić visits the tortilla factory in Orašje: A major investment in food industry to promote agriculture development
Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić visited the Union Foods company in Orašje that invested more than 40 million KM in a new tortillas and tortilla chips factory.
Together with the company owner Vlatko Barbarić and the board members, Minister Hrnjić toured the factory to see the production process and the capacities of the new factory.
Minister Hrnjić pointed out the importance of this investment for the economy of Orašje and the entire Posavina Canton, as well as for the development of agricultural production in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to new job creation and strengthening of local production. He also emphasized that such projects showed how investments in the industry can bring about the economic growth and increased competitiveness on the market.
Minister Hrnjić also praised the technology used in this factory, stressing that investing in the modernization of production capacity is crucial for increasing product quality and better competitiveness on the local and international markets.
“Such investments not only improve local production, but are also a major step forward in the strategic development of the food industry in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Minister Hrnjić.
Minister Hrnjić also pointed out that the Federal Ministry had also contributed to the development of this company through support for investments in the construction and upgrading of agricultural processing facilities through the Rural Development Support Model, as a sign of the Ministry’s commitment to promoting the development of processing industry and agriculture production in BiH.
Hoping that the Union Foods company would serve as an example to others of how a successful private sector can contribute to the development of the community and the state, minister pointed out the Ministry would continue to support innovative and sustainable projects that provide long-term benefits for the agricultural sector and the local economy. He also invited other potential investors to follow suit and invest in Bosnia and Herzegovina that provides numerous favorable investment conditions.
Minister of Agriculture of the Posavina Canton Mato Brkić and the associate of the Development Bank of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivo Vincetić also joined the visit and expressed their satisfaction with the investments, noting the importance of these projects for the local community. The owner and management of the company announced the future expansion of production to further spur the development of this sector.
