Minister Hrnjić at the opening of the Plum Fair in Gradačac: Increased investments attesting to the strength of domestic agriculture
The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić attended the opening ceremony of the 52nd International Agriculture and Food Industry Fair “Plum Fair” in Gradačac, an event gathering producers, processors and businessmen from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
Minister Hrnjić in his address stressed the importance of Gradačac as one of the centers of agricultural production in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and highlighted the increased investments in agriculture, both at the federal and local levels.
“Gradačac is committed to agriculture. Compared to 2022 alone, the withdrawn subsidy funds have almost doubled, allocations have increased from 3.2 million KM in 2022 to 6.2 million KM in 2024. This is proof that we can ensure stable development of the sector by working together,” Minister Hrnjić said.
He particularly highlighted the promising data, indicating 40% increase in young people showing interest in starting their own agricultural businesses in FBiH.
“This is the best indicator that agriculture has a future. It is our responsibility to develop, support and preserve that future together,” added Hrnjić.
The Plum Fair in Gradačac gathers thousands of visitors and hundreds of exhibitors each year, promoting domestic products and facilitating new business collaborations, innovations and investments in the agricultural sector. The 52nd International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry “Plum Fair” in Gradačac runs from 27 to 30 August this year.
