FMPVŠ and ProBio BiH: 100 Mobile Phones for Improving Plant Production Control
The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić and the representatives of the ProBio BiH Project handed over packages containing mobile phones to officials of cantonal ministries responsible for agriculture.
The mobile phones will be assigned to field workers in charge of plant production, with the aim of improving the control and recording of production activities. The phones, with a total value of around 25,000 BAM, are primarily intended for photographing plots with geolocation tagging, allowing more precise and efficient identification of the actual state of plant production.
Minister Hrnjić thanked Suzana Madžarić of the ProBio BiH Project, pointing out the importance of investing in modern technologies that contribute to strengthening institutional capacities and improving transparency in the agriculture sector.
“We are further strengthening the system for controlling and monitoring agricultural production by introducing modern technological solutions, this time for officials at the cantonal and federal levels. Such projects contribute to more efficient fieldwork, but also to greater trust in the processes of subsidy allocation and resource management,” said Minister Hrnjić.
Representatives of cantonal ministries pointed out the importance of applying existing regulations related to plot imaging and geolocation marking. As was noted, this practice has already resulted in reduction in reported areas that, due to their size, could not be adequately controlled earlier.
“Promoting Local Biodiversity through Innovative Nature-Based Actions in the Agri-food Sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina” (ProBio BiH) is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), and implemented by the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies – Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari).
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry will continue activities aimed at modernizing the sector and strengthening institutional capacities, with the support of international partners.
