The Farm and Client Register was established in 2010 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of the Federation following the adoption of the Law on Agriculture and the Law on Direct Payments in Agriculture and Rural Development.
Farm registration is obligatory for all farmers and family farms applying for support payments, family farms selling their produce on the market and farmers who are required to be registered in this and other registers or records kept by the Ministry or other institutions following other regulations.
The clients, either physical or legal entities, based in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are beneficiaries of support payments and other types of support in agriculture registered for agricultural production and service provision in accordance with the laws above.
The Client Register includes physical and legal entities which are not engaged in farming, but are eligible for the rural development support.
As of November 2020, 82 035 farm holdings and clients are recorded in the Farm and Client Register. Out of the total registered farm holdings and clients, 78291 are family farm holdings while 3744 are legal entities and crafts.
The total of 115,226.5 ha of arable agricultural land is registered in the Farm and Client Register of the Federation of BiH as of November 2020.
Registration and data updating is carried out in 79 municipalities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
