Minister Hrnjić’s visit to Tuzla Canton
On his visit to the Tuzla Canton, Minister Hrnjić met with the cantonal officials – the prime minister of the Government of Tuzla Canton Irfan Halilagić and cantonal minister of agriculture, forestry and water management Fedahija Ahmetović – to discuss the challenges this Canton faces in agriculture and the ways to improve the subsidy policy at the level of Federation BiH. They also talked about the investments of funds compiled by water charges. They agreed on the need to amend the Law on Agricultural Land in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to better respond to the needs of the growing number of requests for the construction of solar power plants on agricultural land. They also called for the urgent adoption of the Law on Forests in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Izen Hajdarević, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina also joined the discussion.
At the meeting with agricultural producers and representatives of agricultural associations in the Chamber of Commerce of the Tuzla Canton, Minister Hrnjić was introduced to the work and activities of the association of agricultural producers from the Tuzla Canton. The key segments of the subsidy program were presented and participants were invited to actively participate in public debates on the regulations for the allocation of support payments, which are currently in the public discussion.
“The Canton of Tuzla is one of the largest in the Federation of BiH in terms of the number of agricultural producers, and support for hard-working agricultural producers to improve production deserves a proper approach. In this regard, discussions with them can and should serve to improve measures in the sectors of agriculture, food industry, water management, forestry”, said Minister Hrnjić.
A meeting was also held with representatives of the Bingo company, where support for increasing the presence and visibility of domestic agricultural products in retail chains was discussed. The visit to the Tuzla Canton ended with a visit to the City of Srebrenik, where the situation in the field of agriculture and water management was discussed with the mayor Adnan Bjelić and his associates.
