Minister Hrnjić with IFAD mission on climate change in agriculture

Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić met today with the mission of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was attended by IFAD country manager for Bosnia and Herzegovina Robert Longo, environmental expert Renaud Colmant and the PCU director Halil Omanović. They discussed the ongoing projects IFAD implements in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in particular the Agricultural Development and Rural Enterprises Project (READP), which is focused on the poverty reduction in rural areas. Another topic of discussion was the new proposed project on increasing resilience to climate change in the agricultural sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Increasingly visible climate change reminds us every day of the importance of taking measures and activities aimed at increasing the resilience of our agricultural sector. In this regard, we fully support the planned activities and the current project aimed at reducing poverty in rural areas,” said Minister Hrnjić.

The IFAD mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina will hold a series of meetings with the relevant institutions to hear the views and proposals that would inform the concept note for the project “Increasing Resilience to Climate Change in the Agricultural Sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina” to be funded by the Adaptation Fund grant in the amount of 10 million dollars.
