Visit to Una-Sana Canton and Meetings with Farmers
In his two-day visit to the Una-Sana Canton, Minister Hrnjić, accompanied by his associates, met with municipal and cantonal leaders to discuss the issues in agriculture, forestry and water management.
The first meeting was held with cantonal Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić, Vice President of the Cantonal Assembly Ines Delić and cantonal minister of agriculture Adis Džanić. Presenting the programs of the Ministry, Minister Hrnjić pointed out the need to enhance cooperation between cantonal and Federation level of administration. He also stressed the importance of holding a climate change conference in the light of increasing flood events in our country.
Minister Hrnjić also met with the Mayor of Bihać Elvedin Sedić. They discussed ways to increase the cooperation between the City of Bihać and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry. In the light of horrendous floods that affected the region, director of the Sava Water Agency Sejad Delić presented the situation in the flooded areas and issues facing the authorities in the forthcoming period.
Despite the state of emergency being declared in Bihać, Bosanska Krupa and Sanski Most, on the second day of the visit a large number of farmers and veterinarians turned up at the joint meeting to discuss agricultural payments, rural development and veterinary issues.
Farmers asked wide-ranging questions concerning land tenure and concessions, farm payments, the allocation of veterinary service areas and the new agricultural strategy. The current situation regarding the floods was discussed at the meeting with the Sava Water Agency regional office in Bihać. In a separate meeting, forestry stakeholders talked about introducing new technologies in forest management and harmonization of legislation, including signing new ten-year contracts for special hunting area management.
