Minister Hrnjić with milling industry representatives on wheat purchase
Minister Kemal Hrnjić met today with representatives of the milling industry in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to review the situation regarding the purchase of wheat from agricultural producers in the FBiH.
They focused on the impact of unfavorable weather conditions on wheat yields this year, as well as the possibilities for purchasing surpluses that may appear on the market and the storage capacities of mills.
The milling representatives presented the information on the wheat production contracted with local producers, the demands and required quantities, as well as the wheat market trends and available quantities in silos.
“As I pointed out at the meeting in Posavina Canton, an urgent response is needed, and together with the milling representatives we need to come up with models to protect local agricultural production, primarily wheat. We are witnessing disruption on the global market, and it is necessary to rely on our own capacities and find the best solution that would suit agricultural producers, purchasers and processors,” said Minister Hrnjić.
As pointed out at the previous meetings with Minister Hrnjić, this year’s harvest will be late and is expected to start in the second third of July, which is enough time, as minister stressed, to find an adequate solution for the purchase of wheat from agricultural producers from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
