Visit to Zenica-Doboj Canton

Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić visited the Zenica-Doboj Canton today and met with Prime Minister of ZDK Amra Mehmedić and Cantonal Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vinko Marić to discuss the current issues in agriculture, water management, forestry, veterinary and food industry.

They discussed the ways to intensify cooperation and improve solutions in agriculture to improve the position of agricultural producers in this canton.

Prime Minister Mehmedić thanked Minister Hrnjić for the visit and pointed out that there is an interest in improving agricultural production, and that different levels of government should jointly support the development of the FBiH agricultural sector. The representative in the Assembly of Zenica-Doboj Canton Harun Čolić also joined the discussion.

Minister Hrnjić also met with the representatives of agricultural associations, agricultural producers and veterinary stations in the Meat Plant Madi in Tešanj. As was pointed out, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry should, with an open approach and dialogue, work on amending laws and by-laws to facilitate the work and activities of agricultural producers.

The Federal Ministry representatives presented the opportunities for agricultural producers and processors offered through the Rural Development Model, including support for investments in agricultural machinery and equipment. The model includes support to crop production, animal husbandry, fishing, investments in breeding livestock, buildings on family farms, establishing plantations, investments in preparation for the legalization of farm buildings and compliance with environmental standards, food industry support, organic production certification and credit line with the Development Bank of FBiH.

Minister Hrnjić and his associates also visited the dairy cow farm “Pranješ” in Žepče, the pig farm Đureinović and the association of raspberry growers and beekeepers in Željezno Polje.
