Minister Hrnjić at the opening of the Plum Fair in Gradačac 2013
Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić attended the opening of the 50th International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry – Plum Fair, held on 23-26 August in Gradačac. In attendance were also the Prime Minister of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić, Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of Tuzla Canton, Fedahija Ahmetović, Mayor of Gradačac Edis Dervišagić and former President of Croatia Stjepan Mesić.
Minister Hrnjić said in his address that he felt like a host in Gradačac having been an exhibitor at the Fair for several years.
“I am aware of the importance of this fair for exhibitors, I am aware of the importance of every medal and award that businessmen win at this fair. We know that exhibiting at the fair in Gradačac is an honor and endorsement. It is the effort of companies to improve their processes. They deserve all the support in this endeavor. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture will work towards providing support to improve this fair as well as supporting our agricultural producers.
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Agriculture actively support the development of agriculture through various incentive programs and professional support for farmers, but also through support for the organization of fair activities. The International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry plays an important role in promoting agricultural products, raising awareness of their quality and creating a favorable environment for trade and business opportunities. I am convinced that the management of this fair will further develop the fair and make it into one of the major events in Southeast Europe when it comes to the presentation of agricultural production.
I invite all participants of the Plum Fair to exchange knowledge, network and find new business opportunities. Let this fair be a strong incentive for further development of agriculture in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnia and Herzegovina, hoping that new generations continue to nurture and develop the Plum Fair in Gradačac”, said Minister Hrnjić during his address.
The fair celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and is a unique networking platform for agricultural producers, experts, associations, institutions and business partners to exchange experiences, learn about the latest trends and technologies, and make business contacts. Aside from promoting the plum, the Fair also has a wider impact on the entire agricultural sector in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a positive impact on rural development, encouraging the local population to engage in agricultural production and providing them with a platform for the promotion and sale of their products. The fair and its accompanying activities in Gradačac help agricultural producers to increase the visibility of their products and develop long-term business relations.
