Minister Hrnjić on Further Cooperation with UN Women in BiH and the Gender Center

The Federal Minister of Agriculture Kemal Hrnjić met with the representatives of UN Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Gender Center of the Government of FBiH.

The meeting took stock of the successful cooperation during 2025, with a special focus on the results of the project “Women Driving the Development in Agriculture and Rural Areas.”

The project’s goal was to remove structural barriers faced by women in rural areas through the introduction of time-saving and enabling technologies and to present innovative sources of financing. The project was funded by Sweden and jointly implemented by UN Women and FAO, in partnership with the line federal ministry.

Minister Hrnjić pointed out the importance of supporting women in agriculture.

“We will continue to support initiatives that alleviate women’s work and remove structural barriers, because women are the key drivers of sustainable development in our rural areas,” said Minister Hrnjić at the meeting.

Jo-Anne Bishop, Director of UN Women in BiH, emphasized that cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry has made a difference in the lives of women in rural areas.

“The introduction of technologies and innovative financing models shows that when institutions and organizations work together, the results are visible and sustainable in the long term,” Bishop stated.

Aside from Minister, advisors and team members responsible for project implementation attended the meeting, allowing for a detailed discussion on plans for the upcoming period and potential new projects under the cooperation with UN Women and the Gender Center of the Federation of BiH.

The project “Women Driving Development in Agriculture and Rural Areas” is funded by Sweden and implemented by UN Women BiH and FAO.
